EELA is joining the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) with a panel discussion titled “Scaling Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (EELA): Accelerating Investments through the EELA Industry Clean-Tech Platform (ICTP).”

EELA ICTP is an innovative initiative that is being established to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient and low-carbon industrial solutions across Africa. Developed in multiple countries, the ICTP acts as a one-stop hub for industries by creating demand for low-carbon technologies, supporting technology transfer and demonstration, and improving access to financing mechanisms.

First piloted in Kenya, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the ICTP seeks to:

• Accelerate the adoption of low-carbon and energy-efficient technologies across industrial sectors.
• Provide a central platform for technology transfer, capacity-building, and financial support.
• Address challenges such as outdated technologies and inefficient production processes.
• Enhance industrial competitiveness while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
• Foster sustainable economic growth and resilience within Africa’s industries.
• Develop pilot projects that can be replicated and scaled across the continent.

During the event, participants will explore investment opportunities and financing mechanisms to help de-risk and mobilize private sector capital, position EELA and the ICTP within broader continental frameworks (including Agenda 2063, ACS2 outcomes, and the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)) and discuss financing and partnership opportunities to ensure the initiative’s long-term sustainability and impact.

The event is organized by UNIDO, Sida, and the Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (EACREEE, SACREEE, ECREEE) in close partnership with AUDA-NEPAD, AFREC, regional economic communities, and representatives from national ministries, the private sector, and financial institutions.
